DSGS (Demand Side Grid Support) is a program operated by the California Energy Commission (CEC) that pays battery owners for discharging energy during grid emergencies. It helps stabilize the power grid while offering financial rewards. DSGS operates from May 1 – October 31.
You may be eligible to enroll here if you have an installed Solis hybrid inverter with battery in PG&E, SCE, or SDGE and are not currently enrolled in another demand response program.
Eligible Solis inverters include:
Participants are paid for the performance of their battery energy discharged during emergency events. Factors such as battery size, amount of charge available during the event period, and local energy prices will influence how much participants will earn from DSGS. Well performing resources may earn hundreds of dollars throughout the DSGS season.
Events are called when grid resources are stressed, typically on hot summer days when demand is highest. DSGS events will last for two hours and will occur between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. DSGS events will often have notice provided a day in advance. Events may be called with less notice in the case of a grid emergency.
At least one event per month and up to 35 events per year will be called. If no grid event is called in a given month, then there will be at least one test event.
Yes. Your battery can still reserve energy for backup depending on your battery's settings.
Yes. You can unenroll at any time without penalty. Message vpp-support@derapi.com to do so.
Your utility account number is on your electricity bill, typically near the top.
Yes. However, devices that have received or are receiving California Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) funding will have a performance "baseline" applied, lowering performance payments.
Solis provides the inverter technology that helps manage energy flow between your battery, home, and the grid. Solis is partnering with Derapi to offer their customers access to DSGS.
Derapi connects your battery system to the DSGS program and manages communication between your system via Solis Cloud and the program operator.
